Position Summary

The Student Services Professional assists with coordinating the University student support system, providing high level administrative work, and general information. Student Services Professionals must be proficient with processes related to Admissions, Registration, Financial Aid, Business Support, and work effectively with Academic Advisors & Student Success Coaches to resolve escalated issues. Are responsible for engaging all active student populations through student success methods, providing navigation assistance of the National University experience and student resources. Provides timely referrals, problem solving and “first-year experience” strategies to establish a foundation for early and consistent academic success. Performs administrative duties including use of case management systems, facilitating use of NU academic resources, referral to internal resources and abiding by policies and procedures to ensure graduation of each student.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs administrative tasks for prospective and current students covering a wide range of detailed information.
  • Handles incoming calls from students to provide general information about the National University processes, registration, financial aid.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to other departments and campus resources including but not limited to career services, advising, tutoring and academic departments.
  • Escalates or deescalates complex issues and questions to academic advisors or student success coaches.
  • Provides proactive outreach to targeted at-risk student populations to identify current barriers to matriculation, technological navigation of National University online tools and degree completion.
  • Utilizes case management system to conduct all activities within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Makes appropriate referrals to resources such as the Math and Writing Center, Career Services, study materials, Academic Advising, or Success Coaches.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 2 years direct experience in registration, records, financial aid, admissions, or higher education preferred
  • 1-2 years Customer Service or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) experience preferred
  • 1-2 years working in a sales or call center preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities preferred
  • Preferred experience working with first generation, nontraditional and military students

  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision
  • Excellent public speaking, interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and promote an inclusive environment that reflects the broad diversity and backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions and remain organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Working knowledge of case management systems
  • Ability to be flexible and dependable
  • Ability to adapt and academically support the evolving needs of the adult and/or online learner
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Knowledge of the National University System and its programs
  • Ability to demonstrate basic math skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Entry level knowledge of MS PowerPoint and MS Notes
  • Ability to operate a copier/printer, fax, PC, calculator
