About the opportunity

The Cloud Services group has a proven track record of delivering exceptional services to clients around the globe. We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and motivated Application Administrator to join our Colleague Assurance Team. Our team is responsible for delivering high performance, high availability, and high stability Cloud applications to our clients by maintaining troubleshooting, tuning and configuring their entire technology stack including the Colleague ERP running on both the Linux and Windows/SQL platforms, Tomcat and IIS front-end applications.

Where you will make an impact

The Applications Administrator will play an integral role in the success of the group. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for:

  • Incident Management
  • Resolve incidents that Associate level cannot resolve
  • Resolve incidents that escalate due to duration or impact
  • Engage Engineers when they are unable to resolve incidents/issues
  • Document steps taken to troubleshoot and resolve the incidents
  • Respond to tickets promptly (meeting SLO’s)
  • Use and contribute to knowledge management documents
  • Scope method of procedures

Planned Work

  • Execute planned work as scheduled
  • Complete necessary pre-work to ensure planned work is completed successfully, on time, and within customer planned window
  • Follow and recommend improvements to runbooks for common tasks
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assigned problem tickets
  • Script to automate common, repeatable tasks across the supported products and technologies
  • Conduct root cause analysis for performance and the instability issues in the application
  • Develop and document processes, methods, procedures, and tools for diagnosing software defects & problems with commonly performed tasks
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and able to adapt to changing business goals
  • Analyze changes in newly released applications and updating the existing documents, processes, methods, procedures, and tools to work with these changes
  • Subject matter expert in providing detailed planning information to project coordinators to assist in the planning of service requests, implementation steps, corrective actions, upgrade recommendations and optimization steps for Ellucian technologies and products
  • Engage in continuous learning and adoption of new concepts, technologies, and problem-solving techniques
  • Participate in the weekly on-call rotation with the other team members to resolve critical production application issues that are escalated from the Monitoring team after hours and on weekends

Problem Management

  • Report problems when incidents are recognized repeatedly at a given customer or across multiple customers
  • Troubleshoot and resolve assigned problem tickets

What you will bring

  • Minimum of 5+ IT experience in a large-scale environment
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience in installing, configuring, troubleshooting, and tuning a major network application with a database backend and web front end
  • Windows and Linux system administration
  • Microsoft SQL server administration
  • IIS and Tomcat administration including security and SSL
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Colleague Administration
  • General advanced troubleshooting skills including debugging network, security, SSL, AD, database and application errors
  • Experience with Single Sign-on Configuration/Support (SSO) including the SAML protocol
  • ITIL Knowledge (Incident, Change and Problem Management) and related tools (ServiceNow)
  • A desire to resolve problems and not just incidents or events. Possess the tenacity to delve to the root of the problem quickly, understand why it happened, and prevent it in the future
  • Works well with cross-functional global and remote teams
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn new technologies, methods, and tools quickly to meet our business requirements
  • Proven ability to collaborate with team members to achieve successful customer outcomes
  • Strong presentation, verbal and written skills, excellent customer service, as well as high attention to detail
