DESCRIPTION: We are seeking an experienced and motivated Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with academic experience in higher education to serve as a consultant to help develop a hybrid post-master’s certificate program. This post master’s certificate will be a complement to our hybrid Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) MSN program.

NEIT’s current accredited FNP Masters level curriculum emphasizes innovative teaching strategies and evidence-based practice to meet the demands of the increasingly complex healthcare delivery system. It also strives to improve patient safety and quality in care delivery. Our faculty are committed to the education of current FNPs and future PMHNPs, who will be leaders in health care as competent advanced practice providers.

Position Requirements:

  • An active unencumbered RN license and Master’s Degree with a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner certification and active license to practice.
  • Academic experiences in higher education and curriculum development, and recent 5+ years of clinical practice as an advanced provider.
  • Familiar with current professional standards and competencies which address: the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Core Competencies, the American Association of Colleges in Nursing (AACN), and the Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing is required.
  • The consultant should be familiar with the Rhode Island Board of Nursing requirements.
  • The consultant should pose excellent interpersonal communication and ability to lead in a team environment.
  • A terminal degree of DNP, EdD, or PhD. preferred.

Responsibilities/AccountabilityThe program consultant works with the Nurse Administrator and Assistant Provost of Health Sciences. The consultant is responsible to deliver a complete developed program within the determined timeline, while meeting the University and accreditation requirements. The consultant will be required to work with other expert faculty to lead this initiative. This can be an off-campus role, however, may require on campus meetings to evaluate hands on resources needed. Diverse Candidates encouraged to apply.
