Position Summary:

Faculty members deliver instruction, conduct research, perform service for their respective professions and community, and participate in the management of the University through shared governance. Each member of the faculty has the duty to deliver instruction and maintain a learning environment consistent with the highest standards of the profession. The faculty has a responsibility to set degree requirements, assess when they are met, and establish and maintain curricula that meet professional standards and fulfill the educational goals of the University.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with rigorous course development
  • Provide comprehensive feedback on student assignments and discussion posts in order to promote learning and growth
  • Willingness to integrate Zoom sessions into classes (at least 1 per session) in order to enhance faculty / peer interaction and augment learning
  • Assist with accreditation process (ASCA SPA Accreditation)
  • Contribute as a collegial member of the School Counseling Program
  • Engage in supervision and advising as needed
  • Serve on committees as needed
  • Attend weekly department team meetings
  • Provide support to students who may be struggling
  • Research / scholarship and professional development in order to foster professional development and student growth
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to teach online school counseling courses and engage in service duties as appropriate for the program
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team setting
  • Ability to share Formal Faculty Evaluations

General Days/Hours:

Monday – Friday
8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
This position is remote
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance
Summer teaching may be available

Faculty members are expected to serve on committees, provide academic advising/mentoring to students, and work collegially with other members of the department. The position requires the teaching of undergraduate psychology courses, including social psychology. Additional courses to be taught may include personality, research methods, abnormal, motivation, and/or psychological testing. Other duties will include maintaining an active research agenda and service to the program, department, college, and university

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree appropriate for School Counselor educators* Candidates must have experience in school counseling related didactic courses including:o Foundational Knowledge and ASCA National Model
Social Cultural Foundations / Possess a high degree of multicultural competence and cultural responsiveness
Ethical & Legal Issues
Group Counseling
Counseling Children and Adolescents
Psycho-Social Aspects of Counseling
Theories of Professional School Counselingo Crisis and Traumao Special Populations
