Everyone is trying to convince you that getting a job is really hard during a pandemic. While, I am not going to convince you that it is easy, it is not hard. You just have to make sure you have the right tools in your tool box. As a person that has helped thousands of individuals gain employment over more than a decade, consistency and efficiency is the key. Before you question what these two things are and if you are actually doing them. Here is a break down of what you need to do and how. If you do this, and are near a major city, you will get a job in 90 days or less.

Step 1-Make sure you apply to at least 10 jobs a day, 5 days a week. Have you ever heard the saying, “If you look for a job, like it’s a job, you will get a job?” This is certainly true.  Say it with me, “I promise to apply to 50 jobs a week.” Ok, now that step 1 is confirmed, move on to step 2.

Step 2-Did you know that your job application or resume is very rarely seen by a “real person” before it is screened by computer/software technology? This technology screens for key words. You must use these keys words in your resume, without them you could be the first to apply but appear as #500 in HR’s database.  For example, in a customer service resume, you would use the key words, “the ability to communicate clearly, great conflict-resolution, empathy, prioritizing customer satisfaction, etc.”  If you are not sure what the key words are in your preferred field, just google, “your field (ex. “sales”) and “key words.  This should help. Now move on to Step 3.

Step 3-If you carefully follow step1 and 2 within a few weeks you will start getting interviews. Study for this interview carefully.

-Review the company website, understand the mission and vision of the organization

-Google the person interviewing you. What does he or she like? P.S. Don’t stalk the person, like any of the persons pictures or send a friend request. This may be perceived as creepy.  Align your vision with their vision.  Look at their interests, see if they have any in common with you. When you mention you have a similar interest to them, they will naturally be more interested in you and be inclined to remember the interview.

-Practice interview questions intently before the interview. If you need more help with this; click here.
